Today, 17 June, around 1PM Iran time, an Iranian friend of mine sent the following report:
“I couldn’t open my e-mails (gmail & yahoo) since yesterday afternoon and [a] couple [of] hours later there was no Internet connection at all, also [there was no connection] for mobile network and satellite channels like BBC Persian and Voice of America PNN.
Albeit the government tried to drag people to the ridiculous show in Valiasr Sq. [note by the blogger: it was reported on media that Admadinejad’s supporters were brought by the government from the countryside to show support for the current government], protesters headed north to Vanak Sq., radio TV main station and Tajrish Sq.
The demonstration went calmly till on the way back some clashes happened between protesters and militia (Basij/Sepah) in the streets terminate to Vanak.
I saw three wounded people in a hospital near our house who had been shot.
Every night around 10PM people go to the roofs for saying “Allah Akbar“(God is great).
Today’s rally is supposed to [take place] in Haftetir Sq.
We are still standing.“
